Sea and Beaches Papanoa (Guerrero)

Should you feel bored with Acapulco full of tourists, nightclubs and crazy cab drivers, take a car and drive north along the coast. You will find small villages with lots of character and locals resting in the shade of coconut palm trees. After a 3 hours drive from Acapulco you will come across a nice small bay (Playa Ojo de Agua) which is another name for Papanoa! The beach is protected from both sides by rocks, the water is shallow and the waves are small. Plus you will find some decent tourist facilities here.
What here: I suggest you spend a lazy day in a beach club MONSERAT. There are sunbeds, shades, pool and you can order some good and inexpensive food from their restaurant (try lobster)! Papanoa is an ideal one night stopover on the way to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo.

Where to stay:
There are few decent small hotels around. The beach club MONSERAT also offers rooms, but I would rather recommend a very cute place on the cliffs called BOGAVANTE. Each hotel charges about 800 pesos for a double room.
How to get here: Follow the road 200 along the shore from Acapulco towards Pie de la Cuesta and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. Papanoa is about 3 hours drive from Acapulco and 2 hours away from Ixtapa. For safety reasons, it is better not to drive in the night.
